rainy days and lobster pies

Sunday morning brunch.
Goat cheese and Wild Mushroom sandwich.
Lobster pie with tarragon and bechamel.
Speaking with accents always makes the conversation more fun.
We spoke in accents for the rest of the afternoon.
Megan really made the southern drawl her own, while I excelled at South Asian. We both failed at Chinese accents.
Almost, almost engaged in rap battle with homeless homie on the street.
Took a tour through Trinity College, where Megan used to have to wear a cape (harry potter style) to eat in the dining hall.
Jousted with medieval costumes found in the ROM store.
Almost, almost visited a psychic. But it wasn't in the cards for today.

note: the current issue of dead sexy features a written 'travel' component in its second part that I did NOT write, although I am credited with the text.
Have written an emergency edit request and until it is changed, I feel highly uncomfortable driving any traffic to that site.

makes me want to burrow a hole in the ground and hide.......

will update if this changes.

Toronto Embroidered

Very very cool art I saw at the Harbourfront Centre with Megan yesterday.

City of Toronto- in and around Kensington market- as embroidered by OCAD graduate Shuyu Lu. Now on exhibit at Harbourfront Centre.

Shuyu was born and raised in China. Her works are focused on screen printing and embroidery, and express her feelings about differences in culture and nostalgia for her own Chinese heritage.

Fit for a Tiger

I rang in the new year last night with two multi-generational tigers, mom and D. That's got to be auspicious or something. If you are curious to know more about the year, the animal, its corresponding characteristics, or more importantly, which other animals of the zodiac you are most romantically compatible with, read this *very* comprehensive website I found online. It's hosted by the US Bridal Guide, proceed with caution.

In the pictures, steamed fish, spring rolls, red bean baozi, roast duck and pork.

Last month I photographed Chef David Chrystian at Victor restaurant in Hôtel Le Germain for the Feb '10 issue of Dead Sexy Mag. Read the article here

Here are some outtakes that I really enjoyed; snapshots providing a window into his kitchen.
